A two-month journey through the Australian Coast is being halted following the fatal incident of an elderly lady who was abandoned by the vessel on a distant island.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but separated from the excursion for a pause. The liner left without her and went back after some time after the ship staff discovered the lady was unaccounted for.

A large-scale search operation found her remains the subsequent day.

Authorities are examining the incident, together with police and the official investigator.
